pvBody Update

So I know I’m definitely not the first blogger to post about this but I wanted to make sure to address the pvBody changes.

As you may have heard, pvBody has decided to launch their own new line of athletic wear, Ellie. Instead of sending out designer clothes at a discount price, starting February 1st, pvBody will allow subscribers to pick two pieces from the constantly changing Ellie line each month.

I spoke with one of the lovely ladies that I had been working with about the change and she assured me that the Ellie clothing is beautiful and functional and that the company has implemented an entirely new customer service department (the old one was the source of a lot of common complaints). She was very understanding and apologetic regarding the way regular customers had been treated and assured me it has been improved.

I first heard about this change while I was in Florida and I did my best to ignore the unsettling feeling in my stomach. However, when I returned home I knew what I had to do. First, I wanted to make sure I told all of you. I have really enjoyed working with pvBody and had a great experience with the clothes I received. However, after hearing about the changes occurring, I canceled my own membership and I thought many of you might want to do the same. Second, I stepped down from my ambassador position at the company. While I really hope Ellie is successful, I didn’t feel comfortable working with or promoting a company that so drastically changed it’s concept. Not to mention all of the little issues that had been popping up among the customers.

Anyway, that is my final take on pvBody. While I enjoyed my experiences with them, I know not everyone was so lucky. Remember, if you wish to unsubscribe, just log in to your account and cancel your next shipment.

I’ll be back tomorrow with an update on running!

New PvBody Outfit

Hey guys! I didn’t think I’d be posting today because Ian and I are flying out of Chicago this morning but after my food poisoning/stomach bug came back last night, I decided it was best to forgo my run for some extra sleep. I wasn’t planning on taking today off so I may do a few shakeout miles tomorrow.. or I may just take tomorrow off too- we shall see!

First, thanks for all the support on yesterday’s post! A few of you reminded me to not fall into the taper worries trap and to trust my training– you guys are absolutely right, thanks for commenting :).

Next, I thought I’d share with you another outfit that I received from pvBody this week. I’m not sure if this is the complimentary outfit that was sent out to the ambassadors in January or if it was the outfit I receive with my subscription but yet again, I’m incredibly impressed with the company.

For my top, I received this purple Nux Quantum Racer tank. At first look, I thought I had received the same tank-top in my first shipment but the straps are thicker and the shelf bra is more supportive. I debated sending it back because it’s the same color as my other Nux top but I decided to keep it because I don’t have anything else that color and I think it’s pretty. The top alone retails for $45, almost the price of the entire pvBody order!

I also received a pair of American Apparel Cotton Spandex Jersey Leggings. I actually received a pair of these last month in bluish-gray and was happy to also get them in black. Before last month, I had no idea American Apparel made athletic wear and I never would have thought to buy tights there. Obviously, pvBody knows whats up though because the leggings fit well, are light weight, and do a great job with sweat wicking.

Bonus- there’s a little key pouch at the front. I like to use them to hold my half-eaten GUs during long runs. I just fold the GU over and slip it into the pouch!

So yet again, pvBody did an excellent job picking out work out clothes for me!*

Alright, time to finish up packing and then head over to the airport! I’m bringing my laptop so I will most likely be blogging while I’m gone!

Do you run the day before a race?

Happy New Year + Blog Changes

I know this is a little belated but Happy New Year! Ian and I rang in 2013 with some old friends at a bar and then spent Tuesday on the couch watching football. I really enjoyed hanging out with our friends from Michigan and I hope you were all able to spend some time with family and friends as well!

It’s been a little while since I last posted so I figured I’d do a brief update today and then post about my rough and sure-to-change 2013 race calendar tomorrow. I’d love to get some ideas from Chicagoans for local races and to hear about all of your racing plans for 2013!

But first, updates….

I spent some time on Monday updating the blog. I added a page under “Running” for my 2013 fitness goals (taken from this post) and I also barely updated my training plan page. There are a few more changes yet to come including updating my “About Me” and taking down my recipe page. I also added a Contact Info page that has links to my e-mail, twitter, instagram, and daily mile accounts. Let’s be friends!

Speaking of instagram, have you noticed less of a food focus on the blog? Remember those blog changes I was talking about? Moving forward I’m going to be blogging less about food and blogging more about running and other things. Food blogging just wasn’t doing it for me anymore and I want to fill this space with other nonsense. I’m not trying to hate on any of you who blog about food– I read you (about 90% of the blogs I read are food-based) and love you– but it wasn’t working for me. I will still post restaurant reviews and will blog about delicious recipes I find because I like to spread the word about good food but besides that my food photography skills will be constrained to the instagram world. Note, there are no rules to my new madness and not everything I eat will be instagrammed either!

…and now speaking of food, I made the most delicious recipe by Kristin and just had to link to it for you. It’s amazing and you have to make it ASAP!

Finally, pvBody has an awesome January promotion going on! They’re offering anyone who signs up this month (or who is currently signed up) access to pvBody’s 30 Day Challenge. The challenge provides each participant with their own personal dietitian and trainer and provides participants with a new challenge everyday. Challenges include diet modifications and meal plans, workouts, recipes, and group activities. You can document your progress with the hash tag #pv30daychallenge. Pretty cool, right?

If you have not already signed up for pvBody but are interested and would like to receive 20% off your order, please use my link to sign up AND THEN take the challenge here. Please note that if you sign up through the second link you will not receive 20% off your order!

Alright, that’s all I have for you today. I’ll be back tomorrow to talk racing!

What kind of blogs do you read? What social media sites do you use?
