Happy New Year + Blog Changes

I know this is a little belated but Happy New Year! Ian and I rang in 2013 with some old friends at a bar and then spent Tuesday on the couch watching football. I really enjoyed hanging out with our friends from Michigan and I hope you were all able to spend some time with family and friends as well!

It’s been a little while since I last posted so I figured I’d do a brief update today and then post about my rough and sure-to-change 2013 race calendar tomorrow. I’d love to get some ideas from Chicagoans for local races and to hear about all of your racing plans for 2013!

But first, updates….

I spent some time on Monday updating the blog. I added a page under “Running” for my 2013 fitness goals (taken from this post) and I also barely updated my training plan page. There are a few more changes yet to come including updating my “About Me” and taking down my recipe page. I also added a Contact Info page that has links to my e-mail, twitter, instagram, and daily mile accounts. Let’s be friends!

Speaking of instagram, have you noticed less of a food focus on the blog? Remember those blog changes I was talking about? Moving forward I’m going to be blogging less about food and blogging more about running and other things. Food blogging just wasn’t doing it for me anymore¬†and I want to fill this space with other nonsense. I’m not trying to hate on any of you who blog about food– I read you (about 90% of the blogs I read are food-based) and love you– but it wasn’t working for me. I will still post restaurant reviews and will blog about delicious recipes I find because I like to spread the word about good food but besides that my food photography skills will be constrained to the instagram world. Note, there are no rules to my new madness and not everything I eat will be instagrammed either!

New Year’s Resolutions 2012

Here are my resolutions, enjoy :)

1) Learn to be more comfortable in my skin, even if that means accepting my dorky side.

2) Create and cook at least one thing each week (meal, snack, etc). I love making recipes from blog-land but I feel like I use them as a crutch sometimes. I want to be more creative in 2012.

3) Complete a triathlon. I’ve run a lot of races and have focused much of my training on marathons but I think that after Boston, a little change up will be fun.

4) Spend more time doing things I love and less time doing things I think I should do. Life is just too short to sit on the sidelines!

5) Be good to my parents- I would love to take my mom on a short trip/ adventure this year. She’s always been so good to me, why shouldn’t I be good to her?
