Monday – Core Sculpt class at the Yoga Loft
Tuesday – VO2 max 8 miler w/ 5 x 600 m at 5k race pace. This was difficult because I was starting to feel really sore from the sculpt class (it was no joke!) but I toughed it out and did my best to run my intervals at 5k race pace (avg pace 7:45 min/mile).
Wednesday – Recovery 6 miler. I was incredibly sore on Wednesday so I really enjoyed my recovery run (avg pace 8:30 min/mile)
Thursday - General aerobic 11 miler. I was feeling better but didn’t want to push too hard. I ran at what felt like a comfortable pace and enjoyed this run. I also saw Emily on the lakefront path! (avg pace 8:00 min/mile).
Friday – Recovery 4 miles w/ 6 x 100 m strides. I ran two miles recovery/warm-up, did the strides, and ran another recovery mile (avg pace 8:19 min/mile).
Saturday (AM1) - 6 mile treadmill run starting at 8:00 min/mile and increasing to 7:43 min/mile (avg pace 7:49 min/mile).
Saturday (AM2) – 3 mile run with the Chicago Running Bloggers (estimated avg pace 11:39 min/mile).
Sunday – 17 mile long run. I started out slowly running through the city and had quite a few gear problems (keys flinging out of shoe pocket, too warm in hat and gloves, shirt riding up, etc) that caused me to keep stopping. Fortunately, I felt pretty good and just kept trucking along. When I hit the lakeshore path at about mile 10, I decided to pick up my pace from an 8:00 min/mile + to between a 7:20 and 7:30 min/mile. I ran the next 6 miles in that range and the last mile as a recovery/cool down mile (avg pace 7:52 min/mile)
Total mileage: 55 miles
The last few weeks my mileage has been a little bit lower than I’d like but I’m getting in good workouts and feeling strong during my long runs so it’s not all bad. I have one more week of full on training with a 20 miler scheduled for next Sunday and then I start my taper! Woohoo!
