1. Last night I made these chipotle mashed sweet potatoes. I was actually quite proud of myself because (a) I’ve never made mashed potatoes before and (b) I actually had a well-rounded meal, my typical “meal in a bowl” was nowhere to be seen. As for the potatoes they were pretty good. I should had added more adobo sauce or tabasco though because they weren’t quite spicy enough for me.
2. I’m currently reading laughing my way through Bossypants. I seriously can’t believe how long it took me to get to it. In addition to making you think (ohh yeah getting a manicure is just like holding hands for an hour with a stranger), Tina Fey provides anecdotes from her life and behind the scenes stories from SNL. If you haven’t read it you should!

3. If you don’t get Active.com e-mails you might not have seen these awesome marathon spectator signs. My favorites are the Charlie Sheen one and the one that says “Pain is weakness leaving the body”.
4. Does anyone have any experience running in Brooks GTX shoes? They’re lined with a “breathable, waterproof GORE-TEX membrane” that I’m thinking might be good for running through the snow and slush of a Chicago winter. I’m not so worried about my feetsies getting wet but the form and support of the shoe staying intact. Any thoughts or experience with these? I’m looking at the Adrenaline GTX.

5. Today marked the return of the breakfast quesadilla. It’s been awhile! I spread half of a half with cashew butter and the other half of a half with peanut butter, topped it all with sliced banana, folded it in half, and then put it on the Foreman for 3-5 minutes. Delicious!
Any plans this weekend? Have you read Bossypants?

I loved Bossypants! After reading that, I bought Mindy Khaling’s book Is everyone hanging out without me? It was hilarious, if you like Bossypants, I think you’d like her book too!
That’s been on my list for a while too
. I’m glad you liked it!
Breakfast quesadilla! What a brilliant idea!
Most of my meals are in a bowl. Is that bad?! LOL!
Off to see the 20 great signs! I always need ideas for signs.

My boyfriend makes fun of me for eating so many meals-in-a-bowl. He says they all look the same but I think they’re delicious

Yay! Have fun
Mmm I have to try that breakfast quesedilla! Sounds delicious. Where did you get the recipe for chipolte sweet potatoes? I tried a pair of Brooks Adrelanine GTX when I was buying new running shows and I felt that they were too heavy for me. Have a great weekend

The recipe for the sweet potatoes is linked above. I just substituted earth balance for normal butter because I can’t have dairy.
Where were you linking for shoes? Are they at fleetfeet?
I was at running away multisport.

Thanks!
Making mashed potatoes for the first time earlier this year was one of my greater culinary accomplishments. I was so proud of myself haha.
I’m *hoping* to get in a ton of CAF’s Open House Chicago this weekend. I looked at the list of open buildings and kind of want to see all 150 of them, but since that’s a bit unreasonable, I’m just going to try to hit up as many as I can. The weather needs to be cooperative, though, because this girl will not traipse all over town in thunderstorms. My soccer team also wants to get together for a pickup game…and there’s a 99.99% chance that I’ll skip that, especially if it’s raining. Haha. I’m the worst teammate ever.

I didn’t know about CAF until I just googled it, how cool! I hope the rain holds out so you can enjoy it (and so I can get my long run in outside but that’s another story…).
Mashed potatoes are not easy to make in a small apartment kitchen. They were tasty but I’m not sure it was worth it… haha I’m such a lazy cook.
1. My meals are always ‘meals in a bowl’ aka open fridge, pull out all veggies, find protein source and carbs, heat, eat. So easy.
2. I still need to read Bossypants
3. I forgot about my Foreman for months!!! OMG! What is wrong with me.
4. My plans this weekend is to do our favorite activity: laundry

1. Those are my favorite meals for both variety and how easy they are to make. Plus, they taste good with hot sauce which is always a win w/ me!
2. Read it. It’s so funny.
3. I never used my foreman until this year (and I’ve had it since junior year of college. But it’s so good for making wraps, or ‘dillas and Ian uses it for turkey burgers.
4. Ugh. Laundry.
Never….made….mashed….potatoes? I’m always amazed when I discover this about people. Those are one of the first things I learned how to make. I rarely do it, though, because I hate peeling them.
Some friends of mine run in the Brooks Gortex shoes and seem to like them in the winter. I’ve never tried them.
My plans this weekend involve running 1,000 errands and doing chores on Saturday and then doing a duathlon on Sunday. Before you ask, no, I haven’t done a brick in months. It will be interesting.

Good luck at your duathlon!!
I was never a big potatoes girl until last year. I loved mashed potatoes when I was like 5 but oddly I preferred the boxed variety to homemade (what was wrong with me?) so we never had homemade mashed potatoes at my house. I’m weird, please don’t judge
.
that quesaDILLA (am i the only one that says DIL-LA in my head when I read or type that? ..for the record, I do know that it’s DIYA! lol) sounds BOMB.
also, good work on the mashed taters. those look tasty!
lastly, I really want to read that Tina Fey book! I hear it is hilaaaarz.
HAPPY WEEK TO YOU!
